On average, your order will be received in 3-5 business days. During August or December, delivery time may take longer.

Renting Textbooks

Books can be rented for the entire semester online and/or in store. The book(s) must be returned in the store by the deadline printed on the receipt. A replacement fee and a $25.00 penalty fee will be charged to the student if any book is returned after the deadline. If the book is damaged and is returned before the deadline, we will charge a replacement fee.

To rent books in store the student must bring in the following:

  • Current Pierce College student ID
  • Current Pierce College schedule of classes
  • Debit or credit card
  • LACCD school email address

Returns

In-Store Returns

Fall and Spring books and supplies must be returned within 7 days after the first day of school. Summer and Winter books and supplies must be returned within 3 days after the first day of school. Returns after the deadline must be returned the next business day.

To be eligible for a refund or exchange:

  • Email the book store immediately at bookstore@piercecollege.edu or contact us on Cranium Cafe.
  • There is a 10% restocking fee for each eligible returned or exchanged textbook.
  • There is a $2.00 shrink-wrap fee for broken shrink-wraps.
  • You must provide the original purchase receipt and photo ID in order to receive a refund.
  • Supplies & non-textbook items must be returned within ONE business day of purchase, except as labeled.
  • There are NO returns on workbooks, lab manuals/notebooks, digital content (DC), looseleaf books, and study guides.
  • There are NO returns on any electronic devices. Calculators, Flash Drives, Chargers, Cables, Etc.
  • There are NO returns on any clothing.

Exceptions to this policy include textbooks, media (music, video games, software) which is not shrink wrapped, and customized products. The textbook return guidelines are dependent on when the purchase is made. Please contact us if you have a question about returning a textbook. Customized products which are non-returnable include clothing with monograms, custom published materials (such as course readers or syllabi), and artwork which is printed, matted, or framed based on your order. Defective or incorrectly shipped product may also be returned during this same time period. To be eligible for a full refund, products must be in new condition and must be returned with all pieces originally shipped as well as the original box in which the product was shipped. Product that is not defective must be returned unopened. (Do not remove shrink wrap from product that is to be returned.) Please check packing list for return address information.

Your order must be returned or exchanged by the same date as in store (listed above). If that date has passed you must return your order within one business day after receiving it.

FAQ's

When will the college store be open?
We are now open regular hours.

When will books be available to purchase?
Textbooks for Fall/Spring are usually available two weeks before the semester begins. Textbooks for Winter/Summer are usually available one week before the semester begins.

How long does it take until I receive my online order?
You will be notified when your order is processed. Most orders are received in 3-5 business days.

I have a hold on my account that prevents me from enrolling, what can I do?
Log into your SIS student portal and pay online. If you cannot pay online, you will have to go to the business office. If you need to pay cash, you will have to go to the business office.

How do I use my EOP&S book grant?
To use your EOP&S book grant, you will need your student ID and a copy of your class schedule. Show the cashier after you picked out all your books. There is a limit of how much you can spend with EOP&S. If the total cost of your books is more than what EOP&S allows, you will have to pay the balance.

I have a DOR (Department of Rehab) check, how can I pay/pick up my books and supplies?
Look at your check and see if there are any limitations. I.e. dollar amount, books only, or supplies only.

I'm a Veteran's Student, how can I pick up my books and supplies?
Make sure you have talked with the veteran's department about getting books and supplies from the bookstore. Bring your paperwork to the bookstore and show a cashier. There is a spending limit for books and supplies.

I have some unused meal tickets for CARE/ Cafyes can I still use it in the future?
Contact the CARE/Cafyes department.

I have a check with the Rehab can I use it to purchase material online? Can anyone help me with the process?
Unfortunately, we cannot process checks online.

When is buyback?
Buyback can be done online or in-store.

How can I reach someone from the college store if the answer to my question is not in the FAQ's?

My access code doesn't work. What should I do?
See your instructor first to try and help you access code. If that doesn't work then you need to contact the publishers access code help line, usually that information is printed on the access code card. If it still doesn't work and the publisher is referring you back to the bookstore you must provide the person's name you spoke with along with the case number given to you. We will also need to know which course you're taking, instructors name, your name email address and phone number. We will contact the publisher at this point to get directions on how to resolve the issue.

The access code I got is not for my class, can I exchange it?
Unfortunately, there are no returns/exchanges on access codes.

What if I drop my class, how do I return my books?
You must return your books by the return deadline. Usually five days after the semester begins for Fall/Spring. Usually three days for Winter/Summer.

Will books be available for rent and if so, how do I return the book once the term is over?
Most books are available for rent. Come into the bookstore to see which books are for rent. Your receipt will have the return date for the rentals.

I don't see the book my instructor has on their syllabus, why don't you have the book I need?
More than likely your instructor forgot to put in their book order. Ask your instructor to contact their buyer at the bookstore.

My book says see instructor first, what does that mean?
It means either your instructor is using OER (Open Educational Resources), free online book or your instructor isn't using a book at all or your instructor never turned a book order into the bookstore.

I see my book, but I only want the access code, can I buy the access code by itself?
If you don't see the option of a standalone access code it means your instructor did not request us to provide the standalone access. We can only order what your instructor requests. Math students, we do not sell any standalone codes for any of the courses.

I need a Statway Access Code, how do I get one?
Your instructor will provide you a link to purchase direct. We can do a special order for you if you prefer to purchase from the bookstore but please keep in mind, it will be more expensive than if you purchase direct as the vendor does not offer us a discount and we must meet our state mandated margin.

I need a Statistics 101 e-book access for instructor Moses, how do I purchase one?
Your instructor will provide you a link to purchase direct. We can do a special order for you if you prefer to purchase from the bookstore but please keep in mind, it will be more expensive than if you purchase direct as the vendor does not offer us a discount and we must meet our state mandated margin.

What do I need to do to get a new U-Pass?
Complete online form and show at register.

How much does U-Pass cost?
At this time we are not offering the U-Pass. We apologize for the inconvenience.

My U-Pass is not working, is there anyone who can help me with it?
Contact Metro 866.TAPTOGO, Monday-Friday: 8am to 4:30pm.

Can I get cash back?
We do not allow cash back.

Where is the nearest ATM?
The ATM is located in the bookstore.

Do we accept checks?
Unfortunately, we do not accept checks.
Do we accept Apple Pay/Google Pay/Samsung Pay?
Yes, we accept all of them.

Can I purchase scantrons from the cafe or food items from the bookstore?
Yes. You can also purchase non-book items from Copy Tech.

If my book is not in stock does that mean you won’t have it again?
It can be on order, but you may also fill out an order sheet and pay via the book buyers.

Where do I get my student ID from?
You can get your student ID from CopyTech.

I pre-ordered a book when can I come to pick it up?
The buyer that you pre-ordered your book from will contact you.

I want to return my rented book/calculator. How do we handle the process of returning it with the current status of the "safer at home" policy of the government?

CopyTech is now open for Student ID Processing!

If you are a new student and you're in need of a Pierce College ID, you must be currently enrolled in a class and have a valid form of government issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport. The identification must have your picture clearly displayed.

  1. CopyTech is now open for business! Come in for your student ID Monday-Thursday, 9:00AM - 5:30 PM
  2. Bring a valid ID, such as your high school ID, State ID, or Drivers License.
  3. You must be currently enrolled in classes to receive an ID.
