Textbook Rental Check-ins/ Returns


Q. Can I come to the bookstore to check-in my rental textbooks for this term?


A: No, our Pierce College Bookstore physical location is closed. The rental return date has passed. We are no longer accepting rental returns.

Q. Because the campus is closed, I cannot bring in my rented textbooks. Will I get charged for the textbooks due to missing the due date?


A: While the due date for rented books has not changed, the “non-return charge date” has been extended 15 days past your current return due date to allow time for your mailed book to reach the store.  To avoid late charges, please have your book in transit by the due date.


Q. Can I BUY or EXTEND my rentals on the website?

A.  No, if you originally rented your textbook in the store, and rented online, there is no option to buy or extend the rental on the website at this time.  We are working to have an option to buy or extend the rental on the website on the Rentals page.


Purchases and Previous Orders


Q: I placed an order online for pickup, but now bookstore is closed. What should I do?

A: Please contact us by email at Bookstore@piercecollege.edu and the staff will assist you. Allow a couple of business days for the staff to respond, as they are working to answer all order inquiries. Please be sure to provide your Web Order Number.


Q:  I placed an order but I have not received any confirmation that my item has shipped.  What’s going on?


A:  Confirmations are sent within 5 working days. If you have not received confirmation, please email the bookstore at Bookstore@piercecollege.edu.


Q. How do I cancel my order?

A.  Please contact Bookstore@piercecollege.edu using your college email account for help.


Q. I need to purchase upcoming term textbooks and supplies; do I need to come to the store?

A: No, instead you can order from our online store at www.lapiercecollegestore.com,

which continues to operate.


Q. I lost my physical textbooks, which I cannot access due to COVID-19 restrictions, how can I get a copy of those books?


A: You may return to the bookstore website and purchase new textbooks, or ebooks if that option is available for your class.


Selling Back Textbooks (Book Buyback)


Q. Can I sell my textbooks back to the bookstore?


A: Yes.  While our physical campus store is closed, our online Buyback is currently available. You can sell back books online here.

FAQ’s for Caps and Gowns 

Q: If I purchased a cap and gown, can I return them?

A: Caps and gowns are non-returnable, unless you purchased the wrong size, in which case we allow exchange as long as it is in the original package and with the original receipt.

If we are out of a used book we will replace it with the new version.

The Student Store does not accept personal/business checks or temporary issued debit/credit cards. The Student Store does not accept American Express in store. You may use your American Express to order through our website. We apologize for any inconvenience.

In order to rent a textbook, you must:
• Present your Pierce College student ID
• Show official enrollment of classes
• Provide a debit or credit card for the transaction
• Know your LACCD student e-mail address

We are currently only offering buyback through our website.

Refund Policy

• Once the order has been received, email the book store immediately at bookstore@piercecollege.edu or contact us on Cranium Cafe.

• Spring books must be post marked February 16, 2021

• There is a 10% restocking fee for each eligible returned or exchanged textbook.
• There is a $2.00 shrink-wrap fee for broken shrink-wraps.
• You must provide the original purchase receipt and photo ID in order to receive a refund.
• Supplies & non-textbook items must be returned within ONE business day of purchase, except as labeled.

• There are NO returns on workbooks, lab manuals/notebooks, digital content (DC), looseleaf books, and study guides.

• There are NO returns on any electronic devices. Calculators, Flash Drives, Chargers, Cables, Etc

• There are NO returns on any clothing.
